Posted on: November 7th, 2013 by Gerry | 1 Comment

So it’s my favorite time of the year again here in the east coast. Hot and humid season are far gone and welcome cold season. I just love the fall season here in the east coast specially Hudson Valley. The fall colors are just amazing and I hope the following photographs gave it justice. The first two photos were taken in Woodstock, NY, the next several photos are of Cold Spring, NY and the last series are of Manhattan’s Central Park. I’m also including two photograph of my dog Oliver who’s always with me in my photographic adventures. Enjoy and let me know if you guys have any questions about the photographs.

Posted on: February 24th, 2012 by Gerry | 1 Comment

So finally the first snow of the season here in New York was today. OK, I’m not in New York City but I’m still in New York, Woodstock New York that is. I’ve been waiting for the snow to come and we got about 3-4 inches. It has been really mild winter here in New York and it was nice to see the white stuff. Here are some proofs that it did snow! Enjoy!

On this week’s post I want to share with you some macro and street photography using the same lens, 90mm f/2.8. Once in a while I go for Photo walk using just one lens and I’m also testing this lens to see if I like it or not. This is also my first time diving into street and portrait photography. As you can see with my old post my photos are landscape and nature photography. I’m liking macro photography a lot, it’s like looking into another world. I’m still on the fence about street photography, I find it difficult to be creative. Usually with landscape I can visualize what I want to take a photo but with street photography it’s very static and I find that setting difficult.

All macro photos and the pup are all taken in Woodstock, NY and the other two photos are taken in NYC while I was on a street sale. I had fun taking this photos specially the bee photos. I have more bee photos and if you guys would like to see more just let me know. Thanks for visiting and I hope to see you guys again next week. Happy viewing and please leave comments, questions and suggestions. Thanks!!!

For this week, I tried macro photography. I went up state for the long weekend and took some macro photographs. I’m amazed at what I saw when I looked closer. It was a whole new world. I tried out Tamron 90mm f2.8 macro lens for all this shot. For some of the shot I also used a ring flash.

I’m amazed at how close I can get to my subject. This was my first time doing macro and I’m liking it so far. I shot most of the picture with a tripod, at this close to the subject a little movement caused blur. I love the soft back ground of all the shot. I also heard that macro lens are great for portrait and landscape. So stay tune cause I have more macro pictures to share with all of you. If you have any questions, comments, and suggestions please leave on comment section or email me. Enjoy and see you next week.

Cooper Lake

Posted on: June 14th, 2010 by Gerry | No Comments

Nikon D80 1/25 sec at f/11, ISO 100, 18-70mm, 1.8 ND Filter, Circular Polarizer

I’m spending some time in Woodstock, NY this week so I’m posting this picture I took this past weekend. I’m also testing some new equipment for this shot. I recently got a B+W 1.8 Neutral Density Filter at my favorite store B&H. This is my first time using this kind of filter. I wanted to play around with long exposures and this would also help with taking photographs during bright sunny day like this photo. This was taken around 5pm on a very bright sunny day. I’ve been around Cooper Lake several times but this is the first time I’m photographing it. I used the 1.8 ND Filter and stacked it with circular polarizer to deepen the blue in sky and the water. I’m very happy with the results. You could still see the details in the sky and the reflection on the lake without blowing it out. I hope you like it and please leave comments and questions.
